Fuerteventura’s Beaches
With over 150 miles of coastline, in Fuerteventura there’s no shortage of beautiful beaches to explore. From secluded coves surrounded by golden sand dunes to wide expanses perfect for surfing, Fuerteventura offers something for everyone. In this article we’ll be taking an in-depth look at some of Fuerteventura’s best beaches, from classic favourites like Corralejo and Caleta de Fuste to more recent discoveries like Playa Blanca. We’ll cover what makes these spots so special; their history, culture and attractions – plus practical advice on how to make the most out of your trip! This guide will come in handy whether you’re planning your first visit or want ideas on where else to go after exploring popular spots like Morro Jable or Costa Calma. So if you’re looking for sun-soaked adventures or romantic escapes alike then let’s dive right into our exploration of Fuerteventura’s beaches!
Corralejo
In Corralejo you have the choice between the city beaches such as Corralejo Vejo or Playa Puerto de Corralejo, for example.
If you prefer endless beaches near the Natural Park of the Dunes of Corralejo, there are the Grandes Playas de Corralejo and here too there is plenty of choice.
Just stay put, spread out your towel and enjoy the Fuerteventura sun.
Caleta de Fuste
Caleta de Fuste is one of the most touristic areas of Fuerteventura.
For this reason, the beaches are also tailored to the average tourist, with services and everything you need for a holiday.
The two most important beaches are Playa del Castillo and Playa de la Guirra.
Both have a free beach as well as parasols and sunbeds for a fee.
There are bars and services to “lean on” in the surrounding area
You can also find the Atlantico Shopping Centre near La Guirra.
Playa Blanca and other beaches of Puerto del Rosario
Puerto del Rosario has two beaches near the town center:
Playa de Los Pozos (also called Playa Chica by many), which is close to the harbor and in front of the town and is often very crowded.
Then Playa Blanca, which can be reached from the center via a pedestrian path along the beach promenade (there are many small bays with fishermen or sunbathers).
Playa Blanca has a few watchtowers, a beach bar and is ideal for everyone.
There is a water sports area where you can go surfing or bodyboarding if the waves are high enough.
The beach of Puertito de los Molinos also belongs to the municipality of Puerto del Rosario.
It is a semi-deserted village on the west coast.
It is ideal for a visit, but does not have the characteristics of endless sandy beaches.
But the village is well worth a visit
El Cotillo beaches
I won’t go into too much detail about El Cotillo as this would be repetitive.
You can find all the detailed information about the beaches of El Cotillo in this article.
Pajara and Jandia Beaches
The municipality of Pajara has perhaps the most beautiful beaches in Fuerteventura.
I hope I don’t leave any of them out, because they are so numerous and beautiful.
Playa de Cofete
I’ll start with Cofete because it’s my favourite beach, the wildest and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
It’s a little difficult to get to and that’s why it’s so spectacular.
I have dedicated three articles to it:
One about how to get there, one about the beach itself and finally one about the small cemetery that is located there.
Playa de Sotavento
Playa de Sotavento takes second place among the beaches in the south of Fuerteventura.
Sunny, sandy, endless, quiet.
The sea is quite calm here and for this reason it is ideal for spending endless days.
I have dedicated an article to it to explain its situation from an ecological point of view.
Other beaches in the municipality of Pajara
Other beaches in the municipality of Pajara that I have visited and that I would like to mention are certainly those of Ajuy and Morro Jable.
Morro Jable is super famous and known to everyone. Infinite and with a beautiful lighthouse.
Ajuy is a bit more special because it is more difficult to reach (here the road is always paved, unlike Cofete).
Ajuy is just a small white village, and the dark sand of the beach is very picturesque.
