Program of the festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Peña ’23
This year too, the celebrations for Nuestra Señora de la Peña in Vega de Rio Palmas ( close to Betancuria ), will attract many pilgrims and tourists from the Canary Islands and from every corner of the world.
We publish the event calendar day by day to allow those wishing to participate, or just attend, to adjust to the days and times of the events.
Saturday September 9 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm: VI Edition of the Betancuria Livestock Show (MUGABE).
Various activities will be carried out: crafts, hiking routes, exhibitions, musical performances and much more.
Sunday, September 10, 5:00 p.m.: Pilgrimage from the Hermitage of La Vega in Rio Palmas to the Hermitage of Malpaso, where a floral offering will be made to Nuestra Señora de la Peña.
from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm: VI Edition of the Betancuria Livestock Show (MUGABE).
Wednesday September 13th. 8:00 p.m.: Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña.

Thursday, September 14, 8:30 p.m., plaza attached to the church: PREGON DE LAS FIESTAS EN HONOR DE LA NUESTRA SEÑORA DE LA PEÑA, by the Cultural Association Más ruines que Caín.
Friday, September 15:
- 10 a.m., different streets of the Town: Historical dramatization;
- 12:00 pm: Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, Celebration of the Eucharist;
- 1:00 p.m.: Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, Musical performance by group 5 in key;
- 4:00 p.m.: In the surroundings of the Church, Palo Canario Game Exhibition;
- 4:30 p.m.: Majada de la Vega area (in front of the Pinar de Betancuria), concentration of the pilgrims, the folkrorist groups and musicians’ band;
- 5:30 p.m.: Departure of the Offering Pilgrimage in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Peña in the direction of the Vega de Rio Palmas Sanctuary, through the Betancuria Ravine. Accompanied by the Fuerteventura Cabildo cart by the AF la Piona;
- 9:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.: around the church, parties around the church;
- 11:00 p.m.: Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, String dance with performance by the popular music group Tababaire and El Trasmallo party;
- 00.00 h: Nuestra Señora de la Peña Church, Celebration of the Eucharist. At the end, the image of Nuestra Señora de la Peña will be placed in the Portico of the Sanctuary from where it will welcome the pilgrims;

- 01.10 am: Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, Gran Verbena with the Kandela Orchestra and the Maquinaria Band Orchestra;

- 10:00 am: Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Peña, Celebration of the Eucharist;
- 12:00 pm Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, transfer of the image of Nuestra Señora de la Peña to the Plaza. Solenne Eucharest celebrated, presided over by the Bishop of the Dioceses of the Canary Islands.
Procession accompanied by the performance of the Pajara Municipal Band. - 2:00 p.m. Plaza Nuestra Señora de la Peña, traditional stew tasting (“Puchero”) with the musical performance of Los Lolas;
