XVII International Blues and Jazz Festival of Corralejo: October 19-21, 2023

The Department of Culture of the Municipality of La Oliva already presented at the end of July, the XVII International Blues and Jazz Festival of Corralejo which will take place on 19, 20 and 21 October in the Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, in Corralejo. This annual event has gained prominence in the festival calendar and will showcase local and international talent.

Local artists will perform on October 19th, while internationally renowned artists will take to the stage on the nights of October 20th and 21st.

Featured international artists include the ‘Chris Cain Band’ and ‘Tonina’, who will bring their international blues and jazz influences to the festival.

The Chris Cain Band is recognized for its great talent and typical blues sounds.
Chris Cain has more than three decades of touring and fourteen previous albums under his belt. Since his first release in 1987, Cain has created his own blues sound inspired by his heroes: B.B. King, Albert King, Ray Charles, to name the best known .
His jazz-inspired blues guitar playing is fiery, emotional and always unpredictable.
His voice is gruff and powerful.
Chris Cain has received two BMA (Blues Music Award) nominations for 2023, including Best Contemporary Blues Artist and Guitarist of the Year.
In 2022, Chris Cain was honored with four BMA nominations, including Best Male Blues Artist and Best Blues Album of the Year for his recent Alligator Records release, Raisin’ Cain.

Tonina Saputo, on the other hand, is a bassist, singer, guitarist, poet, music critic and composer from Saint Louis, Missouri, who offers original songs together with arrangements of covers, both in Spanish and English.
Tonina comes from a music-loving family that introduced her to many musical genres, from funk, soul, jazz, to classical music. She was born in San Diego, California but grew up in Saint Louis with a background of black and Sicilian culture.
All these components have given her the unparalleled possibility of playing many different genres and reinterpreting them. Her sense of rhythm, melody and her extraordinary voice make her performances an electrifying experience for all listeners.

These and other artists will be protagonists of the XVII International Blues and Jazz Festival.
