Corralejo hosts the “XXIV Isla de Lobos Swimming Crossing” on October 15th
The XXIV Isla de Lobos Swimming Crossing confirms itself as an important international open water swimming competition, with more than 250 participants from various parts of the world and solidarity in favor of the fight against cancer.
In recent days the official presentation of the “XXIV Travesía a Nado Isla de Lobos” (this is the name of the competition in Spanish), one of the most important sporting events in Fuerteventura, took place, in the presence of important authorities.
The XXIV Swimming Crossing of Isla de Lobos” will take place on October 15th and will have a course of 3,500 metres, starting from Punta del Marrajo and arriving at the ramp of the Corralejo sports pier.
Participants will come from various countries around the world including Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Holland, the United States and various Spanish cities such as Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona, ??Granada, as well as the Basque Country and the Canary Islands.
The departure of the 258 participants is expected around 12:00 from Punta de Marrajo, on Isla de Lobos, while the arrival of the first swimmers is expected at the ramp of the Corralejo sports pier around 12:45.
For the XXIV edition of the Isla de Lobos swimming crossing, security measures have been strengthened to guarantee the integrity of the participants. A detailed safety plan has been prepared with the presence of the Civil Protection, a medical team and several support boats and canoes that will supervise the test along its entire route.
Finally, not to forget the solidarity nature of the competition, since this will benefit the Spanish Association against Cancer, which underlines the social commitment of this sporting event.
