Carnival of Puerto del Rosario 2024: the full programme

Carnival in Puerto del Rosario was presented yesterday, 22 January, in the capital of Fuerteventura.
As announced, the theme of this year’s carnival will be “El mundo submarino” (the underwater world).
The carnival will take place from February 4 to 18, 2024 and there will be no shortage of music, parties and events for everyone!

But here is the full program of Peurto del Rosario Carnival 2024:

• 4. February: the 2024 Carnival in Puerto del Rosario will begin with the traditional Carrera de Arretrancos, which runs from Calle León y Castillo via Calle María Estrada to Plaza de las Escuevas. At the end there will be the “Verbena de la sabana” with Laly Lean, Grupo Bomba with its orchestra and Grupo Kalibre.
• On February 8, one of the most anticipated moments will follow: the birth of the sardine and the proclamation of the carnival by Fermina Barrios and Pilar Suárez and their team, which will begin at 8:30 pm in the fair district.
• 9. February: The main weekend will be eventful. Friday morning will be dedicated to the children, who will celebrate a school parade through the different streets of the city and a meeting of the different schools of the municipality in the Plaza de Tetir. In the afternoon, from 7pm, the Murgas Island get-together and children’s carnival, with DJs Rich Gubaly, Saúl Díaz, Ricardo Araujo and Danny Romero.
• On Saturday, February 10, it will be the turn of the adult Murgas, who will celebrate their island race on the stage of the fair. Party at the end with N-Klave and Kandela.
• 11. February: One of the most impressive and anticipated events of the Puerto del Rosario Carnival is the Achipencos Regatta, which reaches its twenty-fifth edition and will once again fill the capital’s bay on Sunday with dozens of “hydrodynic carnival devices powered by obviously environmentally friendly energy’.
  One of the most entertaining days of the festivities, which will continue with the Day Carnival on Los Pozos beach with performances by Grupo Bomba, DJ Abian Reyes, Orquesta La Sabrosa, Tonny Tun Tun and his orchestra, Nuevo Klan and Nuevo Klan y Vamos y La Liamos.
• On Monday, February 12, Grupo Extra, known for their hit “Me Emborracharé” and their fusion of bachata and urban music, will take to the stage at the fairgrounds from 10 p.m., before kicking off the big party with “Grupo Arena” and Nuevo Klan.
• 13. February: The carnival action continues on Tuesday with the Children’s Carnival – Family Carnival, with activities for the youngest carnivalists both in the morning and in the afternoon.
• 14. February: The party for older people will be livened up with performances by Jacomar and the Mariachis Las Salinas. During the festival, the queen and rooster of the festival are crowned.
• On Thursday, February 15, music and dance will fill the stage of the fairgrounds when the Municipal Conference of Dance Schools is celebrated.

Friday 16 February

• 7:00 PM: Sambodromo da Ilha
  
  Meeting of batucadas and comparsas.
  
  Start from Plaza de la Paz, and head to the Recinto Ferial where the show of the different participating groups will take place.
• 10:00 PM: Concert featuring Mejor con copas and Las Nancys Rubias. Followed by a Verbena with Gente nueva.
  
  Location: Recinto Ferial.

Saturday 17 February

• 6:00 PM: Gran Coso Carnevalero (Carnival Parade)
  
  Concentration and verification of the floats at 4:00 PM on Calle Barquillos.
  
  Start along Calle Almirante Lallemand , Avenida Ruperto Gonzalez Negrin, Avenida Reyes de Espana, Calle Duero , then turning onto Calle Secundino Alonso and ending at the Recinto Ferial (You can see the exact route in the map above)
  
• 9:00 PM: Grand Verbena with the Furia Joven Orchestra, Grupo Kandela, and N-Klave.
  
  Location: Recinto Ferial.

Sunday 18 February

• 8:30 AM: Burial of the Sardine accompanied by all carnival groups.
  
  Location: Plaza de la Paz towards the Recinto Ferial.
• 8:00 PM: Great Drag Gala, presented by Amor Romeira and Daniel Calero.
  
  Followed by the burning of the Sardine.
