March 23-24: postponed the last weekend of Carnival in Fuerteventura
The great carnival season in Fuerteventura should have ended on the weekend of March 23rd and 24th with two carnival events not to be missed, in two equally unique villages that are always worth a visit.
However, the bad weather that hit the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura in particular forced the organizers to postpone the one-day carnival of Tetir on 23 March to 20 April (new date!) and to cancel that of Betancuria on 24 March
For all updates and various information you can consult the Facebook page of the Carnaval de dia di Tetir 2024.
Betancuria Carnival day
The statement on the Facebook page of the municipality of Betancuria instead calls for caution and shows the carnival poster with the words “Cancelled”
“In view of the rain warning, the municipality of Betancuria is acting responsibly. There will continue to be no activities in our municipal structures, they will close their doors and the planned activities will be suspended. This measure will be maintained throughout Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th, in coordination with the General Directorate of Emergencies and the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
The Town Council calls for caution and asks that non-essential travel be restricted, as provided for in the island’s contingency plan, which was activated yesterday at 3pm by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.
We should remain calm and follow the instructions of the authorities. The safety of our community is our priority”
