Fuerteventura will have 11 Blue Flag beaches in 2024
The Health Council of the Government of Canarias informs about the obtaining of eleven Bandera Blue in the 2024.
In the Canary Islands, the Bandera Azul initiative is managed in collaboration with the Health Council through the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canary Islands Health Service.
Bandera Azul ( blue flag) is an annual award and environmental quality certification system developed by the FEE (Federation of Environmental Education) over the last three decades.
In Spain, the ADEAC (Asociación de Educación Ambiental y del Consumidor) coordinates this initiative.
It recognises those sports beaches and ports that meet the criteria for excellent bathing water quality, comply with environmental regulations and have adequate health and safety infrastructure to ensure the health and safety of all users.
These are the beaches in Fuerteventura:
La Oliva:
- Corralejo Viejo,
- Grandes Playas,
- La Concha.
Pajara:
- Butihondo,
- Costa Calma,
- El Matorral,
- Morro Jable.
Puerto del Rosario:

The Bandera Azul ( blue flag ) not only signifies the high quality of the bathing water and the adherence to environmental regulations, but also the provision of facilities and services that promote environmental education and sustainable use of the coast. It serves as a testament to the commitment of these beaches and ports to providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for locals and tourists alike, promoting responsible tourism and environmental conservation. Each of these beaches has its own unique charm, attracting visitors with pristine sands, clear waters, and a dedication to environmental preservation.
