5 Things you shouldn’t do on Fuerteventura
What shouldn’t you do on Fuerteventura?
That’s not so easy to answer.
I’ll try anyway.
1. Don’t pollute the beaches
It’s important to keep the beaches clean.
Everything we leave on the beach ends up in the ocean.
It’s then eaten by the fish and ends up back on our tables.
On Fuerteventura, there are many volunteers and associations that clean the beaches, but it’s good to do your bit.
If you are really interested in participating in cleansing, you can also participate in some days dedicated to cleansing.
I think a few extra hands are always useful.
Limpiaventura, for example, is one of the most active organisations.
2. Don’t go into the sea if the waves are too high
Every good swimmer or athlete knows where their limits are. If they recognize them, they also know when it’s the right time to try to overcome them.
On my trips to Fuerteventura, I realized that the ocean is infinitely bigger than me.
When it decides to take over, it has no rivals.
It’s better to sunbathe and save the surfing and swimming for better days.
There are lifeguards and rescue services on Fuerteventura.
Better not to bother them with pointless silliness.
3.Don’t forget the protected areas
Fuerteventura is a biosphere reserve, which is one of the reasons why it has so much beauty everywhere.
Respect every corner of the island as if it were worth its weight in gold.
Protected animals, delicate vegetation and a unique environment live here.
We want it to never change and for everyone to be able to enjoy it.
3.Don’t disturb the people who live here
People also live on Fuerteventura.
It’s good for the climate here, but also for the peace and quiet in certain places and the serenity you can breathe.
If you arrive in a small village, don’t pretend you’re in the city.
Silence is sometimes worth its weight in gold.
4.Leave to Fuerteventura what belongs to Fuerteventura
This is a basic rule for the whole world.
Packing sand, shells and local flowers in your suitcase is a crime.
Popcorn beach, for example, is often stripped of its precious coral.
This is of course very harmful to the environment, but also to the beauty of the place.
Never do it!
Take a photo and put everything back.
Alternatively you can find many beautiful souvenirs or perhaps local products to take home.
You can find the list of traditional markets here.
5.Never have to leave Fuerteventura again
Leaving every time means suffering.
Leaving Fuerteventura means being torn away from a wonderful place.
In the hope of returning and finding everything as beautiful as the last time.
